Please note that the following requirements are in accordance with Canon law (CC #874),
and are not imposed at the discretion of the Church of the Holy Rosary:
> Only one male sponsor or one female sponsor for a Confirmation candidate is to be used.
> The sponsor is not the candidate’s mother or father and is at least sixteen years of age. It is recommended that a Godparent be the sponsor but this is not a requirement.
> Has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist in the Catholic Church.
> Is a registered member of a Catholic parish.*
> Participates in weekly Mass and receives the Sacrament of Reconciliation when necessary.*

A Sponsor must submit a letter from his/her home parish confirming that they are a practicing Catholic. If your child is being Confirmed through the Church of the Holy Rosary in Edgewater, a letter is not required if your child’s sponsor is a registered parishioner in our Parish.
* A Sponsor letter or certificate is provided only to parishioners who have been active and contributing members of the parish for at least three months prior to requesting a certificate.
